This ground breaking initiative will establish a world class industrial Research & Development centre in Guyana. Facilitating the innovation, training and investment for key sectors including Regenerative Agriculture, Advanced Manufacturing, Modern Methods of Construction, Biorenewable Energy and supporting industries.
Guyana's existing infrastructure and skill base is currently insufficient to handle the exponential growth that is expected with its upcoming industrial revolution. From it's low energy security mix and outdated grid, to a high risk investment landscape due to inadequate access to essential key resources including human capital and processed raw materials. As a result, this stifles the economies of scale and overall feasibility for students and SME start-up culture to undertake kickstarter initiatives, attract investment and ultimately thrive in reaching their full market potential.
As an emerging economy with an abundance of natural capital, favourable regulation and a high demand to attract talent that challenges the status quo, Guyana has a unique opportunity to become a regional as well as a global leader in sustainable research, development and innovation. With unrivalled GDP growth, leverageable resources and competitive tax incentives, these economic vectors could provide the justification to establish a state-backed and co-funded central hub of excellence in STEM's. Offering the essential facilities where global businesses and renown institutions can strategically base themselves on a mid-to-long term basis to conduct truly ground breaking filed research, product development, staff upskilling and above all, entrepreneurship and collaboration of the highest level.
Ecoversities "by industry, for industry" approach means that this flagship project will actively demonstrate the precise principles, standards and craftmanship in which Guyana must adopt to benchmark its industrial strategy at an international level. The centre of excellence will be expertly designed to incubate new talent and inspire new start-ups to scale within a plethora of emerging key industries, shaping the economy and informing future development in Guyana.
Industrial Hemp is staging the largest global industrial comeback in its 10,000 year history. As the fastest CO2-to-Biomass converting crop and with over 50,000 commercial product uses, hemps versatility offers a scalable and renewable solution for Guyana to become self sufficient in producing its own biomass for optimising its food, fuel & fibre security.
For Guyana to meet its development ambitions, the industry must foster Modern Methods of Construction and sustainable best practices. Importing and deploying technological capabilities for SIPs Manufacturing, 3D Printing Robotics, AI driven CAD, BIM & PACE OS software, will ensure highly scalable, affordable and modern building typologies for the future.
Guyana's commitment to export the majority of its oil & gas reserves and develop its own self sustaining renewable electricity infrastructure with updated grid capabilities, promotes the development of new circular technologies in the region. With PV and Hydropower as obvious options and waste-to-energy methods like Anaerobic Digestion at the cutting edge.
There are currently over 120 independent Ecoversity campuses around the world, all offering there own unique curriculums and resources suited to the challenges and opportunities of the community. Ecoversity Guyana will be the centre for state-of-the-art research & innovation for the entire Caribbean region. It will also be the largest monolithic development to be built with industrial hemp in the world. Attracting academics, scholars, students, entrepreneurs and businesses from all types of industries to participate in knowledge and technology exchanges in Guyana's booming economy.
The primary building material used in the Ecoversity Guyana development will be >75% industrial hemp biofibre and powered entirely of biorenewable energy. Kickstarting the industry and leading the market by example on how to properly grow a sustainable economy.
